  • What are fairy hair extensions?
Fairy hair extensions are a type of temporary hair accessory that involves adding thin strands of colored or sparkly hair to a person’s natural hair using a special technique. Fairy hair extensions are often used for special occasions, such as festivals, weddings and parties, and they can be easily removed or replaced without causing damage to the natural hair. The name “fairy hair” is derived from the delicate, ethereal appearance of the extension, which are meant to resemble the shimmering hair of a fairy.
  • What is fairy hair made of?
Fairy hair is typically made from Thai silk, which is what makes the strands smooth, shiny, and strong.
  • Who is fairy hair for?
Everyone who has at least 4 inches of hair! Some get it for a special event or party; others wear it continually. Others change up their fairy hair strand colors by holiday/season. For example, you could do red or pink for Valentine's Day, green for St. Patrick's day, red, silver and blue for the 4th of July, and my personal favorite, orange, green and purple for Halloween! You can wear fairy hair that is bright and blingy, like Sparkling Emerald or Rainbow, or it can be more subtle by choosing a color very close to your natural hair color that sparkles in the light. As a platinum blonde, I wear Sizzling Gold and Bubblegum Pink.
  • Can I buy fairy hair and DIY?
You can find some on Amazon that are much lower quality (think Christmas Tree garland), and they usually have a limited number of colors. Don't be fooled by imitations! Not only is their product low-quality but doing it yourself is exceedingly tricky. We free-range fairies know the secret to perfect application so that the strands last longer in your hair.
  • How long will my fairy hair last?
There's no guarantee on how long fairy hair will last as it's tied to one strand and will fall out naturally when that strand does. The duration can vary from a few days to several months, and we always include extra strands to compensate for those that fall out quickly. It's worth noting that, on average, around 80-90% of our hair is growing, while 10-15% is in a resting phase. The resting hairs shed every 2-3 months, and new ones grow in their place. This means we could lose between 150 and 200 hairs per day. The number of hairs on a person's head can vary, but the average human head typically has around 100,000 hairs and hair follicles.
  • How much does fairy hair cost?
  • How do I prepare my hair for fairy hair application?
Please arrive 5-10 minutes early to pick your perfect fairy hair color and to ensure I stay on schedule. Don't be scared of choosing the "wrong color" of strands. They are all beautiful, and we can test one out to see if you like it. We lose 100-200 strands of hair a day, so it's essential to arrive with clean hair thoroughly brushed of loose or weak strands and tangles and minimal styling products. Trust me when I tell you, the fairy hair will not last nearly as long if you arrive with several days' old hair or tons of product built up on your scalp (you can ask my sister 😉).
